Vinson Hall

Vinson Hall

Located in the heart of McLean, Virginia just across the river from Washington, D.C., Vinson Hall is an existing non-profit Continuing Care Retirement Community supported by the Navy Marine Coast Guard Residence Foundation. As a member of the project team, SMITH Engineering obtained approval of a Special Exception Amendment and subsequently, site plan approval for the construction of a 150,000 square feet Independent Living building consisting of 75 new dwelling units, and its associated underground parking garage. SMITH also successfully designed a 50,000 square foot Community Building as well as a two-level parking structure on the campus. In addition to the design of an underground water quantity control facility and the renovation to an existing detention pond, SMITH implemented Low Impact Development (LID) techniques on the property including Filterra Tree Box Filters and infiltration trench to further enhance water quality treatment onsite.
